The vacuum circuit breaker is named because the arc extinguishing medium and the insulating medium of the contact gap after arc extinguishing are all high vacuum. The advantages of vacuum circuit breakers are small size, light weight, and the advantage of arc extinguishing without maintenance. They are very suitable for frequent operations. Therefore, they are widely used in power distribution networks. The vacuum circuit breaker is an indoor power distribution device in a 3-10kV, 50Hz three-phase AC system. It can be configured in a central cabinet, a double-layer cabinet and a fixed cabinet to control and protect high-voltage electrical equipment. It can also be used for protection and control of electrical equipment in industrial and mining enterprises, power plants, and substations, and is especially suitable for use in places that require no oil, less maintenance and frequent operations.
The structure of vacuum circuit breaker is mainly composed of conductive part, vacuum interrupter, insulating part, transmission part, frame and operating mechanism. The vacuum interrupter is mainly composed of dynamic and static contacts, shielding cover, dynamic and static conductive rods, bellows and shells as a whole, which cannot be disassembled and should be replaced when damaged. The working principle of the vacuum circuit breaker is: when the moving and static contacts are opened under the action of the operating mechanism, an arc is generated between the contacts, and the surface of the contacts volatilizes at high temperature. When passing through, a magnetic field is generated, and the arc moves rapidly along the tangential direction of the contact surface under the action of this magnetic field. Part of the metal vapor is condensed on the metal cylinder (shield), and the arc is extinguished when it naturally crosses zero. The strength of the medium quickly recovered. Vacuum circuit breakers have a series of advantages such as large breaking capacity, high reliability, small size, light weight, no explosion, low noise, no pollution to the environment, long life, less maintenance and maintenance-free throughout the life cycle, etc. It has been widely used in the world.
